Tuesday Is International Overdose Awareness Day

Our Executive Director, Alicia House, appeared on WCCO 4 with Taylor Hohmann of Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge on August 31st, 2021 to talk about Overdose Awareness Day.

The interview covered many of the local efforts being made to increase awareness of overdoses. From lighting up the US Bank Stadium purple to hosting booths at the Minnesota State Fair, both House and Hohmann emphasized the importance of spreading hope and reducing stigma. House specifically noted race disparities in opioid overdoses as African Americans in Minnesota face three times the risk and Native Americans face seven times the risk of fatal overdose as white Minnesotans.
