This privacy policy will describe our guidelines concerning the use of your personal information, including the reasonable efforts we make to protect your personal information in accordance with these guidelines, and about what choices you have concerning our use of such information. This privacy policy pertains to the website owned and operated by the Steve Rummler HOPE Network, www.steverummlerhopenetwork.org. Please read this policy carefully.

1.0 PRIVACY

We keep your private information private by

  • Not selling your information. You have entrusted the Steve Rummler HOPE Network (SRHN) with your personal information, and we are committed to using it wisely. SRHN will not sell, share or otherwise transfer your personal information to anyone without your consent.
  • Restricting who has access to your information. SRHN takes reasonable precautions to restrict access to your account and personal information only by employees or contracted partners who are authorized to have such access for business purposes. Please refer to this policy regularly. SRHN may need to change this policy from time to time to address new issues and reflect changes on our website.

Scope of Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the personal information that you provide to SRHN, either through our websites or in person at SRHN events. This policy does not apply to your use of unaffiliated sites to which our websites link. 

Privacy of Children

We are mindful that young people need special safeguards and privacy protection. We realize that they may not understand all the provisions of our policy or be able to make thoughtful decisions about the choices that are made available to our adult users. We strongly urge all parents or legal guardians to participate in their children’s usage of the Internet and any online services and to teach their children about protecting their personal information while online.

2.0 COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL DATA

Collection of Personally Identifiable Information

SRHN may ask you to voluntarily submit personally identifiable information (PII) that can be used to contact or identify you. The collection of PII may occur in person or on a website operated by SRHN. This information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name
  • Phone number
  • Address, State, Province, ZIP/Postal code, City
  • Usage Data
  • Demographic Information

Collection of Photographs

SRHN may also collect your photograph, by capturing your image at a SRHN event, for identifying you as a partner, volunteer or program participant.  SRHN periodically takes pictures and video of SRHN partners and persons participating in events to use for promotional purposes and programming materials including social media and SRHN website.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Use and Disclosure of PII

If you do provide us with PII, SRHN may contact you based on the information you provide to communicate with you about SRHN activities that may be of interest to you.

SRHN will use its best efforts to never disclose any PII about you to any third-party for purposes unrelated to SRHN without having received your permission except as provided for herein or otherwise as permitted or required under applicable law.

We do not rent or sell PII to third parties. SRHN may share PII with trusted service providers, such as payment processors, technology partners or other providers that need access to your information to provide operational or other support services while you are a SRHN partner or program participant.

We may also disclose PII to regulatory authorities and law enforcement officials in accordance with applicable law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal action, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our services or defend against legal liability.

Retention of Your Personal Data

SRHN will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, or to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

SRHN will also retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our services, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

Collection of Payment Transaction Information

When you make a payment or donation, we collect information to process the financial transaction and may use that information to contact you in the future about SRHN and its programs. Your payment information is transmitted to us, using a secure Internet method that helps maintain the privacy of this information. 

Collection of Non-Personally Identifiable Information

We collect non-personally identifiable information, including but not limited to the use of the following:

  • “Cookie” technology: A cookie is an element of data that a website can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system to help enhance your experience in using our sites and to provide us with technical information about your usage. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of our website.
  • IP address tracking: An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer when you are on the Internet. When you request pages from our Sites, our servers log your IP address.
  • Web beacons: A web beacon, or “clear gif,” is a small graphic image on a webpage or web-based document that a website can use to determine information about a user.

Non-personally identifiable information might include the browser you use, the type of computer you use, technical information about your means of connection to our websites (such as the operating systems and the Internet service providers utilized), and other similar information. Our systems may also automatically gather information about the areas you visit and search terms you utilize on our websites and about the links you may select from within the sites to other areas of the World Wide Web or elsewhere online.

Although an industry-standard do-not-track (DNT) protocol has not yet been established, SRHN’s information collection and disclosure practices and the choices it offers to consumers will continue to operate as described in this Policy.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Use of Non-Personally Identifiable Information

We use non-personally identifiable information for our purposes related to running SRHN and its programs, and, in particular, to administering websites, and, in the aggregate, to determine what technologies are being used.   We may also share aggregate, non-personally identifiable information with third-parties, such as reports used for grant compliance, which may be submitted to state and federal authorities.

Collection of Sensitive Information

Where necessary, SRHN may collect certain sensitive information from you, including and not limited to:

  • payment card or bank account information to process donations;
  • demographic information used to evaluate how our services are reaching and impacting different demographics.

Access to sensitive information is restricted to those individuals who have a legitimate need for access. We will not use or disclose your information to third parties unless such disclosure is necessary to accomplish the purpose for which the information is collected.

Choice/Opt-Out

If you opt-in to receive information from us, either by signing up for our newsletter or engaging with us as a network partner, you can change your mind later. If at any time you would like to stop receiving such information, you may change your options by unsubscribing from our mailing list or, if in reference to the broader scope of communications, by contacting hope@rummlerHOPE.org or (952) 943-3937.  You should be aware, however, that it is not always possible to completely remove or modify information in our databases and servers.  We will make reasonable efforts to do so upon your request, and we are unable to have your information removed from the records of any third-party who has been provided with your information in accordance with this policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Personal Data Access and Accuracy

You may contact SRHN with inquiries or complaints regarding the use of information about you. We will use reasonable efforts to grant reasonable requests to access data about the requester. We will also make reasonable requests to correct any incorrect or misleading data about the requester. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

3.0 SECURITY

SRHN takes appropriate administrative, technical, and physical measures to safeguard against unauthorized processing of personal information, and against the accidental loss of, or damage to, personal data. However, SRHN cannot provide an absolute guarantee of the security of any of our websites or any other site on the Internet.

Consent to Transfer

The SRHN website is operated in Minnesota. If you are located outside of Minnesota, please be aware that any information you provide to SRHN will be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.. By using the SRHN website, participating in any SRHN services, and/or providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.

Username and Passwords

If any portion of our site requires you to register or open an account you may also be asked to choose a password and a user name. Please select a password that would not be obvious to someone trying to guess your password, and change it regularly as an added precaution. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account, and you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account identification.

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of your personal data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

California Privacy Rights

Under California Civil Code Section 1798 (California’s Shine the Light law), California residents with an established business relationship with us can make an annual request for information about what personal information is disclosed to third parties for direct-marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. SRHN does not distribute your personal information to outside parties for their direct marketing without your consent.

California Privacy Rights for Minor Users (California Business and Professions Code Section 22581)

California Business and Professions Code section 22581 allow California residents under the age of 18 who are registered users of online sites, services or applications to request and obtain removal of content or information they have publicly posted.

Be aware that your request does not guarantee complete or comprehensive removal of content or information posted online and that the law may not permit or require removal in certain circumstances.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

SRHN is permitted to revise this Privacy Policy at any time as it sees fit, and by using this Website you are expected to review such Terms on a regular basis to ensure you understand all terms and conditions governing use of this Website. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page, which will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this privacy policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
