ACTION OPPORTUNITY: Support the Right to Know Act!

October 6, 2021 By: Allie Carey

The FED UP! Coalition and Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey are seeking support from other opioid-focused organizations by signing on to a letter petitioning Congress to help eradicate the opioid epidemic.

The Opioid Patients’ Right to Know Act (H.R.-1185) will save lives by encouraging states to pass laws requiring conversations with patients receiving an opioid prescription to:

  • Inform all patients of the potential risk of dependency and addition to opioids.
  • Make patients aware of alternative treatment options that may assist pain management.
  • Encourage appropriate securing of opioid drugs in the home to prevent diversion.

The FED UP! Coalition and Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey are asking interested non-profit organizations to please co-sign the FED UP! Coalition drafted letter.  Collected signatures will be added to the letter, and send to House of Representatives leaders, including Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer and Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and to the Senate.

An organization wanting its name added to the FED UP! letter to the House Leadership should email FED UP!’s Communications Director John McCally at john.mccally@feduprally.org with your organization’s name and location (city and state):

THIS REQUEST IS FOR ORGANIZATIONS ONLY! Individuals wishing to support the bill can ask their House member in their district to co-sponsor, and and encourage House members to pass the act with bipartisan effort.

Thanks for your support!
