Introducing: The Allyship Award

October 8, 2025 By: SRHN

At this year’s Community of HOPE Gala, we are proud to host the inaugural presentation of the Allyship Award. We are honored to provide our platform for this important recognition, celebrating individuals whose work embodies the principles of true allyship.

The Vision

Allyship isn’t a title — it’s a practice. It’s about listening, learning, and using one’s position, privilege, or platform to open doors for others. It means recognizing that recovery, like all forms of healing and growth, requires connection, compassion, and opportunity.

The vision of the Allyship Award is to cultivate an intentional allyship community — one that provides space for individuals to explore allyship while advancing equitable access to resources and opportunities for people of all racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

The Backstory & Purpose

The Allyship Award was created to honor leaders who embody the principles of equity not only in words, but in action. Recovery is not one-size-fits-all, it requires recovery capital, social connection, strong support networks, and access to economic mobility. For many, these elements are vital to rebuilding life after incarceration or substance use treatment.

This award recognizes leaders who have intentionally created opportunities for growth and empowerment for people in early recovery. These leaders don’t just ask, “How can I help?” They take meaningful action. Whether by initiating conversations with historically underinvested leaders, leveraging their own resources to expand recovery capital, or creating employment pathways and low-barrier recovery housing, their work reflects authentic allyship in practice.

They understand that hope is the cornerstone of early recovery and that hope requires tangible support like housing, employment, and community reintegration. By opening doors, supporting grassroots leaders, and strengthening recovery ecosystems, these leaders are transforming both individual lives and entire communities.

A Call to Action

The Allyship Award is more than recognition — it is also a call to action. It marks the beginning of a broader movement to foster a true allyship community, where leaders are encouraged to deepen their understanding of what it means to be an ally and to live out that commitment authentically, consistently, and with purpose.

The best way to practice allyship is through connection — by building relationships across communities, centering lived experiences, and working together to remove barriers that prevent equity and healing.

Together, we can cultivate an intentional community of allies — one rooted in empathy, action, and connection.
