Steve’s Law (MN Good Samaritan + Naloxone bill) passes unanimously in both Houses of the Minnesota State Legislature

November 6, 2014 By: SRHN

Foundation Vice President Lexi Reed Holtum and many dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly for the passage of Steve’s Law (MN Good Samaritan + Naloxone bill) by the Minnesota state legislature.  Their work has paid off as the House unanimously passed the bill on May 7th.  This followed unanimous passage in the Senate and by all committees that heard the bill.  This new law will save lives in Minnesota by providing limited immunity to those who call 911 when witnessing an overdose and by allowing first responders to carry the overdose antidote Naloxone.  This truly could not have happened without the efforts of many people, including Minnesota State Senator Chris Eaton and Representative Dan Schoen who showed great courage, heart, and perseverance.

Print news coverage was included in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
