Upcoming Event: The Dionysus Project (6/18/2025)

June 2, 2025 By: Allie Carey

We are excited to announce that the Dionysus Project is coming to Minneapolis for two powerful, live performances designed to foster healing conversations around addiction. These shows use dramatic readings of classic plays to ignite honest dialogue about the fallout of addiction and trauma, bringing together diverse audiences to reflect, connect, and share their experiences in a facilitated community discussion. This series has toured nationally, presenting to audiences across the country using acclaimed, professional actors and actresses to bring stories to life.

The Dionysus Project presents readings of scenes from Euripides’ Bacchae—an ancient play about the destructive power of intoxication—as a catalyst for guided audience discussions about the impact of substance abuse and addiction upon individuals, families, and communities.

Featuring performances by Chad Coleman (The Wire, The Walking Dead), Seth Gilliam (The Wire, The Walking Dead), Tate Donovan (The Holdovers, Hercules), and Marjolaine Goldsmith (Dress), and a chorus of local community members.

Events are Co-Presented by Theater of War Productions, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County, North Memorial Health, and the Bloomberg American Health Initiative.
